Never Stop Looking Up: Seestar at the First Cyprus Astrophotography Event

    From September 11–13, 2026, the first Cyprus Astrophotography Event brought together astrophotographers, astronomy enthusiasts, and members of the public at The Cyprus Planetarium in Nicosia. Held under the theme "Never Stop Looking Up," the three-day event featured international speakers, astrophotography workshops, product demonstrations, and stargazing sessions under the Mediterranean night sky.
    ZWO joined as a Silver Sponsor, with European partner Marco Rigo representing the company at the event.

    A Gathering Built for Astrophotographers

    Unlike broader space and technology events, the Cyprus Astrophotography Event was designed specifically for the astrophotography community. The program brought together approximately 200–250 amateur and professional astrophotographers, alongside around 500 members of the public attending outreach sessions.

    The speaker lineup included several names familiar to the astrophotography community: Nico Carver (Nebula Photos), Cayetana Saiz, Luca Bartek, Vilen Sharifov, and Ioannis Doukakis. Several of the featured speakers are also long-time ZWO collaborators, creating a natural connection between the event and the wider ZWO community.

    On the Ground in Nicosia

    According to Marco Rigo, who managed the booth throughout the event, visitor interest was consistently strong across all three days. Attendees stopped by to see Seestar in person, ask questions about the smart telescope experience, and exchange experiences with fellow astrophotographers.


    Beyond the Booth: Local Connections

    The event also created opportunities to connect with local astronomy organizations and communities, opening conversations around future events, outreach, and potential collaboration.
    Cyprus also offers favorable conditions for astronomical observation, particularly in some of its mountainous areas, where darker skies provide good opportunities for astrophotography and stargazing.

    Looking Ahead

    The Cyprus Planetarium has indicated that the event will return in 2027. Marco has already expressed interest in participating again, potentially with earlier preparation and a larger Seestar presence.
    Events like this also give ZWO and Seestar a chance to connect directly with local astronomy communities and introduce the product through hands-on experiences.
